# Found report via QR label: found tools find their way back

A tool is lying in the wash bay, in the boot of a customer's car or at the workshop next door. Anyone who scans the Tulz label with a phone and is **not signed in** – a colleague without an account, a customer, the towing service – sees a short **found page** instead of the sign-in page: the name of your business, the inventory number and description of the tool and the note **"Please hand it in at the tool crib"**. If the finder cannot bring the tool straight away, they can report where it is with just a few details.

### What the finder sees and does

1. Scan the QR code on the label (camera app).
2. The found page shows the business, inventory number and description – nothing else: no storage location, no employee, no status.
3. Under **Report as found**, enter **Where found** (required, e.g. "wash bay, workshop 2"), and optionally a **name** and **phone or email** for questions.
4. **Report find** – done. The page says thank you, and the workshop has been notified.

Employees tap **Sign in** and land directly on the tool page after signing in. Anyone already signed in goes straight to the tool page when scanning, as usual.

### What the workshop receives

- Everyone with the right *Create and edit tools* at the tool's site (tool crib, foremen, head-office administrators) receives the notification **"Tool found: WZ-0042"** with the place where it was found – in the bell and as a push message on the phone. Each person can adjust this under *Notifications → What would you like to be notified about?*.
- If the tool has been reported **lost**, the notification says so.
- At the top of the tool page, the section **Reported as found** appears with the time, the place and – if given – the finder's name and contact details.

### Step by step: close a found report

1. Tap the notification – the tool page opens at the *Reported as found* section.
2. Collect the tool or contact the finder.
3. Optionally enter a **note** (e.g. "collected and put away") and click **Done**.
4. If the tool had been reported lost: use **To loss report** to set the report to **Found again** – only then is the tool available again and people waiting for it are notified.

The found report and its closure appear in the tool's timeline and in the log.

### Switch on and off

*Settings → Workshop floor → Found report via QR label* (default: on). When switched off, the label leads straight to the sign-in page for anyone not signed in. Signed-in employees do not notice the setting.

### Protection against misuse and data protection

- The found page exists only for the exact inventory number of an existing tool that has not been retired; unknown numbers lead to the sign-in page.
- The form is protected like the other public forms (invisible security check, minimum time, limits per address and per tool).
- The finder's name and contact details are optional and visible only to the tool crib and foremen. Tulz deletes closed reports after 90 days and open ones after a year.
- Tip: the extra line on labels (*Settings → Business*) is a good place for "Found it? Scan the QR code".
